Moving 457,000 lbs of Radioactive Steel

Moving 457,000 lbs of Radioactive Steel

At a radioactive facility, we handled the transport of two massive decommissioned steam generators from a nuclear power plant. Each one weighing as much as 457,000 pounds! Using two 300-ton crawlers, we lifted the units off railcars and moved them 75 feet away from the tracks. From there, we used a 10-line Goldhofer trailer to transport the generators half a mile to their final destination for offloading. This operation conducted for Energy Solutions, required specialized equipment and precise execution to safely complete the job in such a high-stakes environment.
