In Utah, the $415.3 million Bangerter Highway project delivered four new interchanges to support the Salt Lake Valley’s rapid growth and keep traffic moving safer and smoother. Our role centered on one of the most critical steps in building those structures: setting bridge girders. These massive steel beams are the backbone of each new overpass and ramp, and placing them takes careful planning, tight coordination, and serious lifting capability that only a few companies can deliver.
Each girder lift had to be perfectly timed and perfectly controlled—highway structures don’t leave much margin for error. Our operators and rigging crews worked closely with the client to keep the schedule tight and the placements exact, helping move each interchange from skeleton to structure.
When the South Jordan community gathered to celebrate the opening of the new interchange, we had the chance to contribute in a different way. One of our Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 all-terrain cranes lifted a large American flag high above Bangerter Highway, creating a striking visual centerpiece for the celebration. It was a simple moment, but one that captured the pride behind the months of work poured into the project.
These interchanges will serve Utah drivers for decades, and we’re proud to have played a role in getting them built. Setting the girders may not be glamorous, but it’s the kind of foundational work that makes every mile of improved highway possible—and it’s exactly the type of challenge our team is built for.
