A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Recently, Mountain joined Apex Clean Energy, project partners, landowners, local officials, and members of the community for a blade-signing ceremony celebrating a major milestone in the Rocky Forge Wind project. The event recognized years of planning, collaboration, and hard work that have led to construction of the Commonwealth's first onshore wind farm.

Built by People

For our crew, it was a chance to pause and reflect on the people behind the project. Every signature represents someone who has played a role in making Rocky Forge a reality—from engineers and planners to operators, technicians, construction crews, and local stakeholders. As Paul Belcher, CEO of Mountain, reflected during the ceremony, "We might be the ones here doing the physical heavy lifting, but this community truly did the heavy lifting to make this a reality." Long after construction is complete, those names will remain hundreds of feet above the Virginia mountains as a lasting reminder of the teamwork that made it possible.

Precision in Every Lift

Mountain is proud to be part of the team erecting all 13 wind turbines on the project. Every lift requires detailed planning, precise execution, and an unwavering commitment to safety. While the finished turbines will stand as symbols of renewable energy, they also represent countless hours of coordination, expertise, and dedication from everyone involved.

A Lasting Legacy

When completed, the 70.3 megawatt Rocky Forge Wind project  will exclusively generate power for Google data center in Virginia through a Peer Purchase Agreement signed in December 2024. Under the agreement Google will purchase all of the electricity generated by the facility, supporting it's growing energy needs while creating lasting benefits for the surrounding community. Being part of Virginia's first onshore wind farm is something our team won't soon forget, and the blade-signing ceremony served as a meaningful reminder that every successful project is built by people first.
