Replacing a Gearbox on a Wind Turbine

Mountain Crane is proud to be involved in many successful Windpower projects throughout the country. We replaced a 50,000 lb. gearbox on a Siemens 2.3 megawatt turbine sitting on an 80 meter tower in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
We used our:

• Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 hydraulic all terrain crane
• with a boom configuration of 152 ft. main boom
• 138 ft. luffing jib with superlift
• 225,500 lb. of counterweight
•  

We finished the project in 5 days, often working late at night to catch a break in the wind. Our clients along with our time is of the essence when completing a project like this. And we are proud of our crew for a job well done.
