The Liebherr LR1600/2 is a versa-tile heavy-lift machine and one of the many work horses in the Mountain Crane fleet. In addition to its wind configurations for 100m wind turbines, this machine is also equipped with a variable derrick system with hydraulic controls. The additional ballast increases the crane’s load moment, allowing the crane to perform heavy lifts at longer reaches. This particular lift used 331,000 lbs. of ballast and allowed our crews to complete a 186,000 lb. lift. Our engineering team works very closely with our customers to ensure that all critical lifts are in compliance with both owner and customer requirements, including ground bearing pressures and percent of chart capacity.
