Mountain Goes Globe-al

Mountain Goes Globe-al

Mountain recently wrapped up a challenging and rewarding project at the FMI Safford facility in Arizona. We were brought in to help with the construction of a dome that serves as a stockpile for the conveyors whenever the rock crushers are not in use.

For this job, we relied on our LTM-1750—a crane built for exactly this kind of heavy, high-reach work. The lift itself was no small task: a 36,000-pound section had to be placed at a 235-foot radius. With numbers like that, there’s very little room for error, and this project was no exception. The tail swing and super lift cleared surrounding structures by just inches in some spots, which made planning and precision absolutely critical.

From start to finish, our operations and engineering team were locked in. The planning on the ground, combined with the operator's expertise in the cab, is what made it possible to execute the lift safely and smoothly. Jobs like this are a great reminder that even with all the right equipment, it’s the people behind the controls and in the planning room who make it happen.
