Bringing Our A-Game to the Delta Center

When the Delta Center — home of the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth — began its major renovation project, Mountain was brought in to tackle one of the most challenging parts of the upgrade: extensive concrete precast erection for the new seating retrofit. With the arena preparing for a new era of sports and entertainment, the seating layout needed to be reconfigured to improve fan sight-lines and enhance the overall experience. The complex geometry and tight working conditions inside the arena called for expertise that few companies could deliver, and Mountain was ready for the challenge.

Working in confined indoor conditions, our crews deployed a Liebherr LTM 1095 115-ton all-terrain crane to first set the massive steel beams that form the structure supporting the new seating areas. Once those were in place, we lifted and positioned the precast concrete sections on top of the steel to complete the tiers. These two critical elements — the steel and the concrete — make up the foundation of the new seating configuration, and both were handled by Mountain with ease. Every lift demanded seamless teamwork between our operators, engineers, and the general contractor to ensure everything fit perfectly within the arena’s existing framework.

Meanwhile, outside the arena, our Liebherr LTM 1400 and LR 1300 cranes began the foundational work for the new parking structure. The first phase involved driving the pylons deep into the ground to create the solid foundation that would support the entire structure. Once the groundwork was complete, the same crane transitioned into laying the steel that will become the core framework of the new parking facility. This combination of foundational and structural work showcased the crawler crane’s versatility — and our team’s ability to execute complex, multi-phase operations with precision.

We’re proud to know our work directly shaped the experience for Utah fans. The new seating sightlines we helped build will define how generations of Jazz and Mammoth fans see the game. It’s rewarding to know that every lift, every beam, and every piece of concrete we placed plays a part in how Utah cheers on its teams for years to come.
